Nurses
The role of the staff nurse is to promote the highest standards of clinical nursing within Moss Cottage, and to ensure that residents receive the care that’s right for them, whilst upholding their right to privacy, dignity and choice. This is achieved through person-centred care that focuses on the needs of the individual, rather than focusing on their illness or condition.
This means that our nurses are adept at building relationships with the residents and welcoming any visitors and families too that may be making enquiries regarding the nursing home. It’s useful to remember that our nurses are working in the home of their patients, the residents, as opposed to working in a GP surgery or hospital setting, where nurses are treating patients in their workplace
Some daily duties of a nurse in a care home might include:
- Providing professional clinical nursing to all residents based on their care plan
- To uphold resident’s participation strategy
- Maintaining written records and individual care plans for residents
- Liaise closely with other members of the nursing home staff
- Prepare residents for treatment
- Manage stocks and supplies
- Management or supervision of more junior members of staff
- Assessment of residents’ needs
- Assisting the care home manager with the day-to-day running of the home
- Assisting the care home manager with staff training and inductions
Care Assistants
The role of a care assistant extends far beyond the practical tasks of caregiving. It involves offering genuine friendship and compassionate support that enhances the quality of life for our clients.
Each of our care assistants are dedicated to delivering expert nurse-led care. This goes beyond traditional caregiving, incorporating the knowledge and skills of nursing professionals to ensure the highest standards of care. From complex medical conditions to routine health monitoring, our care assistants collaborate with our nurses to provide comprehensive and personalised care.
Understanding the unique needs of each resident is at the core of our care assistant’s responsibilities. Whether it’s adapting to specific medical conditions, managing chronic illnesses, or addressing the challenges associated with disabilities, our care assistants tailor their approach to meet the diverse and individualised requirements of our residents.
Care extends beyond physical tasks—it involves providing considerate companionship. Our care assistants build meaningful resident connections, offering emotional support and genuine companionship. By fostering a compassionate and understanding relationship, they contribute significantly to the overall well-being and happiness of those under their care.
Respecting the dignity and privacy of clients is paramount. Care assistants handle sensitive personal care tasks with utmost respect and discretion. This includes assisting with bathing, dressing, and maintaining personal hygiene, ensuring that each client feels comfortable and empowered throughout the process.
Ensuring safe mobility within the home environment is an important care assistant duty. Our care assistants assist clients in navigating their homes, providing physical support, and implementing safety measures to prevent accidents. By promoting independence and security, they create an environment where clients can move freely and confidently.
These are just some of the traits you will find in our outstanding team of Care Assistants.
Kitchen Team
Our head chefs and kitchen assistants work as part of their home’s management team to deliver a holistic, personalised approach to care for each resident. They are a key and highly visible member of the leadership team and can often be found in the lounges chatting to residents about food. They know each resident’s dietary and dining needs and preferences and work with clinical and care colleagues to support residents with weight management.
Domestic Team
Our amazing domestic team work tirelessly around the clock to ensure that we provide a clean environment for our residents and staff, providing a high quality service and high standards of cleanliness, ensuring compliance with infection control procedures. As the team are often working in the communal areas and in residents rooms, they tend to build fantastic relationships with the residents/
